A cavity is when food stuck on your teeth are eaten by bacteria living in your mouth.  The bacteria makes ACID, which then starts to make a hole in the enamel of your teeth!  This is why regular brushing (twice a day) and flossing are

important for preventing cavities!

Sealants protect the grooves on your teeth so that food and bacteria don’t get in to start a cavity.  Once a sealant is placed, it SEALS the tooth and protects it!  The picture on the left has grooves, and the picture on the right has a SEALANT to cover the grooves and protect the tooth!

There are many reasons for having hot or cold tooth sensitivity.  Look at the diagram below and see!

For children, a crown may be used on primary (baby) teeth in order to:

  • Save a tooth that has been so damaged by decay that it can’t support a filling.
  • Protect the teeth of a child at high risk for tooth decay, especially when a child has difficulty keeping up with daily oral hygiene.
  • Decrease the frequency of sedation and general anesthesia for children unable because of age, behavior, or medical history to fully cooperate with the requirements of proper dental care.

At DinoDental, we use silver crowns for teeth in the back, and white crowns for teeth in the front!  We want your child to look and feel great while prioviding the best dental care possible!

We DON’T like steel crowns for the front teeth because it doesn’t look nice!                                        We use WHITE CROWNS, like in the picture below, FOR ALL FRONT TEETH ON KIDS!!!!

For crowns on permanent teeth:

A dental crown may be needed in the following situations:

  • To protect a weak tooth (for instance, from decay) from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth
  • To restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down
  • To cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t a lot of tooth left
  • To hold a dental bridge in place
  • To cover misshaped or severely discolored teeth
  • To cover a dental implant
  • To make a cosmetic modification
